Prof. Purushotham of Andhra University named AP State Nodal Officer for IPRs

Visakhapatnam The Government of Andhra Pradesh has designated the Department of Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT)-IPR Chair, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, Andhra University as the State Nodal Agency for promoting and protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the State.
DPIIT-IPR Chair Prof. Hanumanthu Purushotham will be the new AP State Nodal Officer for IPRs. He is a former Chairman and Managing Director of the National Research Development Corporation. He played a key role as NRDC CMD in promoting, developing and commercialising technologies/knowhows/inventions/patents made by national R&D institutes and universities.
He told Bizz Buzz that he would make efforts to improve the innovation index in Andhra Pradesh as the Nodal Officer for IPRs by creating awareness on R&D and commercialisation of patents..
Based on the proposal sent to AP Government by Prof. V. Krishna Mohan, Registrar of AU the State Government designated the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights of AU as the State Nodal Agency vide G.O N0.72 on 12.5.21. Prof. V. Krishna Mohan informed that as a Nodal Agency AU shall prepare IPR Policy for the State and State Universities coordinate with all Central
Government agencies to raise resources, create and nurture the culture of innovation, intellectual property rights and entrepreneurship among the stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion AU Vice Chancellor Prof. PVGD Prasad Reddy said that it is a significant development to promote IPR culture in the State and thanked the Special Chief Secretary Satish Chandra and the State Government for recognising AU as a State Nodal Agency for promoting IPRs in the State.
